About Us

Global Leaders in Archive and Storage Management.

SGL is a leading provider of content archive and storage management software for multiple business sectors including broadcast, post production, news, sports and government. A privately-owned company, SGL is managed by the same three directors that founded the company in 1991. Its reliable, flexible content archive and storage management solutions are utilised by thousands of clients across the globe.

SGL’s expertise stem from its experience of creating solutions across a wide range of environments and from drawing on the most valuable resources available to the company – its expert teams, technology partners, and customers. Innovation is the key to progress, and over the past two decades SGL’s thought-leadership has played a key role in defining, developing and integrating many new content management technologies into the broadcast industry.

SGL is a truly global organisation, committed to meeting your needs wherever you are in the world. Our technical and development headquarters are in Fareham, on the south coast of the UK with support based out of our US head office in Cincinnati, Ohio. In addition, there are SGL sales and support offices across the US, and throughout Europe and Asia.

SGL’s solutions are built around its Open System philosophy. This means that the company’s content management solutions work seamlessly in broadcast environments that consist of multiple systems and require interoperability between an array of standards and technologies.

SGL is proud that its technology partners include industry-leading companies representing every facet of the broadcast arena. The company works in collaboration with all of the major names in media/production asset management, editing, video servers, automation, transmission, and disc/tape/optical storage to ensure that whoever you work with, your SGL archive will integrate seamlessly.

SGL has provided solutions to broadcast organisations of all shapes and sizes around the world, from multinational networks to independent post-production houses, transmission centres to news and sports facilities. Whatever your place in the broadcast family, SGL has already helped people just like you to streamline your workflows, safeguard your assets and to help you do what you do even better.

What our clients say about us

  • "SGL helps us get our work done!"
    Mark JahnkeWTTW CTO
  • “With the amount of content that we create,  it’s not feasible to keep everything online in high-res. To be able to work in a low-res environment and restore just what’s needed is critical for us.”
    Dan KeeneWWE Director Engineering Maintenance
  • “We made a huge investment in Avid with Interplay and ISIS and required an archive that fully integrated with that workflow. We looked at a couple of other systems but nothing was as seamless as SGL. Cutting Edge did a great job, they were really behind SGL and they’re fully trained on the entire workflow so it was a no brainer.”
