In 2004 Avid and SGL announced a unique alliance to produce Avid Archive, a completely integrated archive solution for Avid users, co-developed by engineers on both sides of the Atlantic. Avid Archive is the only solution for users of WG4 and DHM that has been developed directly in conjunction with Avid and is tested and certified in Avid's own labs in Tewksbury.
Avid Archive is powered by SGL FlashNet, the most reliable and scalable content storage management system available to the broadcast industry. Avid Archive is fully integrated with Avid applications, allowing editors to archive, search and restore archived content, directly from within Avid applications. There is no flattening of sequences before archive, and all edits are preserved throughout the life cycle of the media in the archive; when you restore material it's just as it was when you archived it. And since all of this is available directly from menu commands in Avid's own applications, there are no extra steps or new software to learn, which means no training downtime for your operators.
Avid Archive, and all solutions co-developed by Avid and SGL, is the only content archive solution that is thoroughly tested and certified by both SGL and Avid, at all stages of development, roll-out and upgrade. This gives the ultimate in upgrade security; there's no third party upgrade procedure to spring nasty surprises and leave you with data that cannot be accessed, or servers that are overflowing with material that can't be archived.

"We were very impressed by the relationships between SGL, Avid and Sony."
