What is Open System?

Open System is a philosophy that drives the development of SGL's broadcast solutions. It means that all SGL solutions are developed to be as accessible and integration-friendly as possible. Our products and services are designed and produced in conjunction with all of the leading broadcast vendors in all arenas, providing seamless operation in any broadcast environment. This ensures that the archive appears as a transparent storage area available to every user in all departments from within their day-to-day applications.

XML-based API

SGL's Open System architecture is possible because of its close relationship with all of the major industry vendors. If you have an asset management or automation system, or edit suite, you can access material within the archive as easily as online or nearline content, from within the third-party application. This is achieved through use of SGL's innovative XML-based API (Application Programming Interface). This is available to all broadcast vendors, and allows them to use specific FlashNet program commands within their own applications. An XML (eXtensible Mark-up Language) based API uses language that is standardized, enabling all developers to create communication between their products in a language that they all understand and that is commonly updated. This common language leads to a greater understanding of each others' products, and allows SGL and its partners to create a truly Open System that provides customers with more effective and efficient, integrated solutions.
